Central Kruger and Kruger National Park
Your transfer to the Kruger National Parks Phalaborwa gate will take approximately 6 hours. After lunch in the town of Phalaborwa, you will be met at the gate by your guide, and transfer into our open vehicle for the start of your safari. The afternoon is spent on a game drive inside the Kruger looking for animals and birds and taking a few less-traveled 4x4 routes, the adventure starts!
Later in the afternoon, you will arrive at Sable Hide. After unpacking and getting settled in, cold drinks are enjoyed at the fire, whilst the sunsets, and you and your guide are literally the only people for many kilometers around. Listen for lions roaring, leopards, hyena, hippo, elephant, and many nocturnal birds as you gather around the fire and start preparing dinner.
Everyone sleeps inside the hide, which is protected from wild animals yet allows you to experience and hear everything happening in the bush around you. Toilet facilities are provided but please be advised there are no shower facilities for this night.
Your wake up call is early, the fire has already been started and coffee is served. After packing the vehicle we leave the hide, spending the entire morning driving inside the Kruger Park searching for wild animals and enjoying the scenery.
We stop for breakfast and continue our drive down to Letaba Restcamp, arriving in the early afternoon. After checking in you have the rest of the day free to clean up and enjoy a hot shower. Your guide is available for an afternoon drive around the Letaba area if you wish. Dinner is served at your chalet, prepared by your guide whilst you relax at the fire.
A relaxed morning, as you wake up at your leisure, enjoy the last warm shower, and head off back into the bush. Again, most of the day is spent driving around Kruger in search of animals and like the first night, you arrive at Shipandani hide late in the afternoon.
Shipandani is situated centrally, close to Mopani Restcamp, on the banks of the Shipandani River. There are hippo visible from the hide and they generally tend to advertise their presence until quite late into the night. It’s a truly wonderful experience to be in the bush where animals roam freely, yet you are all alone. A sense of excitement and trepidation, but most of all privilege. Your guide prepares dinner at the fire, and like the Sable Hide, there are only toilet facilities, showers are not available on this night.
After an early start, you make your way south down to Satara Restcamp, arriving in the early afternoon. After checking in, having lunch, and freshening up, we depart on a game drive exploring the region around Satara camp, returning in the late afternoon.
Dinner is prepared at your chalet, under the stars, discussing the last few days adventures
